Contents Page (First Draft) & Explanation

Explanation
This is my first draft for my contents page.
For my contents page I decided to follow a Q layout. I followed the same colour scheme as my front cover and double page spread to create a flowing house-style throughout which also follows the typical magazine layout making my contents page look professional. I had Sophie pose in a provocative way which is typically represented by women which fits my target primary audience of women. Sophie also gives sexual and intriguing connotations in the pose of the magazine which again tends to be represented by women attracting my primary audience however this can also entice my secondary audience of men as there is nothing more intriguing to a man than a seductive woman.
I decided to follow an unconventional layout and place a number of pictures on my contents page to make the page much more aesthetically pleasing and generally good on the eye. I used two main images at the top of my contents page, the image on the right is of Sophie posing seductively in a close-up I did this to focus on her face therefore portraying her facial expression creating connotations for the reader to create with her expression and making her somewhat look like a mystery which would entice my target audience and this expression is also a representation of her music and herself as a person. I also had her create eye contact with the reader to make them feel included and involved with the magazine. This image has a white background which looks sort of like a light, this gives her a godlike look which adds to the idea of her dominance. It could also suggest an angel look about her which follows the godlike image and suggests she's somewhat heavenly which then represents her music and persona. My second image on the left is Caitlyn McKenna, I changed her name for the magazine because I think the name Adrianna is a very country and an innocently presented name which creates connotations about her which I wish to represent in my magazine. The image is a long shot of Caitlyn, I did this to include the guitar as a prop to the magazine which portrays her love and passion for her music as she's looking down at the guitar in admiration. This gives the audience an insight to Caitlyn and Sophie and also portrays the genre they are involved in therefore representing the genre of the magazine. Caitlyn's background is flowered this represents her blossoming career and also makes the image look happy and homely connotations suggesting she's in a good place, this would then reflect on the audience and hopefully persuade them to buy the magazine.Sophie looks dominant in my magazine, I chose to make her look this way in the contents page as she is the main focus of this magazine's issue and therefore allows the target audience to make this assumption therefore allowing them to make the decision of buying this magazine quick and easily. Caitlyn however looks more inferior as the camera angle is pointed above her, almost looking down on her, this again reflects her innocent child-like persona. These all add to attract my primary and secondary audience of men and women.

I decided to use my two favourite fonts, American Purpose and Arial as these are both simple yet effective fonts. The are both easy to read yet American Purpose is bold and stand out against any text therefore catching readers eyes and also keeps a rolling theme throughout my magazine with the same use of Arial and American Purpose. I used Arial in a different way, although it is still a simple and easily readable font this does not stand out as much which is why I chose to use this as the information for the page as opposed to using it for the main headings which American Purpose is used for.

The colour scheme throughout my magazine is white, grey, black and red. These are shown in my contents page creating a house-style for my magazine. I chose these colours as these are the colours best associated with the Indie Rock Genre but also have connotations with the Indie genre therefore appealing to both genre's for my audience.

Overall I believe my contents page follows an unconventional but a very professional look as I have took the best parts of other contents pages such as Q, NME and incorporated them into my contents page.
